Whitney Houston Estate Plans Hologram Tour & New Album
Whitney Houston’s estate has announced plans for a new album as well as a hologram tour.
According to The New York Times, estate executor (and sister-in-law to the late performer) Pat Houston has turned down every kind of entertainment deal in the past. However, now the timing is right and the estate has several potential projects lined up, including a touring hologram, a Broadway musical, branding deals, and an album of unreleased tracks.
The estate recently signed a deal with Primary Wave Music Publishing that gives Primary Wave 50% of the estate’s assets, including Houston’s royalties from music, film, and merchandising, as well as the right to use her name and likeness.
Primary Wave founder Larry Mestel told The New York Times that he is discussing a potential musical and a Vegas-style spectacle. A new album with unused tracks from Houston’s 1985 self-titled debut album is also in the works.
“Whitney was America’s sweetheart,” Mestel said. “And the idea now is to remind people that that is what her legacy is.”
The Houston hologram, which is already in development and has “taken precedence over everything,” will perform hits like “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)” and “The Greatest Love of All” backed by her original band and backup singers.
