Beyoncé Releases New Song 'Break My Soul'

Not long after sharing news about her July album Renaissance, Beyoncé has dropped the first single from the project – and it's got major 90s dance club vibes. The song is called "Break My Soul" and is an ode to Robin S.’ classic house cut “Show Me Love.”

Aside from the reminiscent synth line, the song features a vocal sample of Big Freedia’s “Explode,” from the 2014 LP Just Be Free. "Break My Soul" was produced by Beyoncé, The-Dream, and Christopher “Tricky” Stewart. Additional credited co-writers include Adam “BlaqNmilD” Pigott, Jay-Z, and Big Freedia, as well as “Show Me Love” songwriters Allen George and Fred McFarlane.

Beyoncé's upcoming album will be her first solo studio album since her 2016 critically-acclaimed record Lemonade. The record is seemingly subtitled “Act I," and will include 16 tracks. "Break My Soul" is the sixth track on the record.

Renaissance is out July 29. While most of the box set variations are already sold out, you can pre-order the "Pose 2" version of the box set here.
