Center Stage on Live365: Weathervane Winery Radio
Center Stage on Live365 this week is Weathervane Winery Radio - "The Right Blend." We spoke with station manager Sid Proctor about their history with radio, their station's programming, and we got some music recommendations. Check out the interview below!
What made you get started in radio?
I was in the broadcasting business for over 40 years and it is still in my blood...
What brought you to Live365?
I like the ease of uploading music, making ClockWheels, and scheduling the music.
What's your favorite part about running your own radio station?
You get to be creative, choose all the music, and it keeps me up-to-date with current music.
Tell us about your station's programming. What can listeners expect when they tune in to your station?
Our station plays "The Right Blend" of music from the 70s through today, from The Spinners to Bruno Mars. We always feature a 30-minute music sweep to help build TSL. The station is upbeat with great jingles and liners to keep the flow of music moving, and we update the music weekly so it is always fresh.
Name one artist that you play on your station that is underrated in your opinion.
What's your favorite music memory/moment?
Being at the Eagles concert in Greensboro. The audio was fantastic and the music was unreal.
Please list your top 5 or 10 songs, with a brief reason why each song made your list.
-
"Lady Love" - Lou Rawls
It's a classic song by him that never got a lot of airplay. Great beat. -
"Leave The Door Open" - Silk Sonic
Great fresh sound that I think has a ton of Motown in it. Fantastic upbeat song with a great story. -
"Gypsy" - Fleetwood Mac
Just a classic song that never gets old. -
"Ebony and Ivory (feat. Stevie Wonder)" - Paul McCartney
Another underplayed song with a fantastic story that blends in well with our station. -
"Walking on Broken Glass" - Annie Lennox
An underplayed 80s song that still works today. It was added because of the beat and the sound of the artist.
