First Trailer for Netflix's Jennifer Lopez Doc 'Halftime' Released

Jennifer Lopez will be the subject of an upcoming documentary called Halftime. Set to premiere on Netflix, it will take a look at the singer and actress' illustrious career...as well as the challenges that come with it. Ahead of the doc's premiere, the trailer has been shared.

According to a synopsis, Halftime will offer "an intimate peek behind the curtain revealing the grit and determination that makes Jennifer Lopez the icon she is." The doc is mainly focused on the 2020 Super Bowl Halftime Show, which featured Lopez alongside Latin pop icon Shakira. The film will include behind-the-scenes footage of Lopez preparing for the halftime performance, which was critically acclaimed and received an Emmy.

“I’m trying to give you something with substance, not just us shaking our f---ing asses,” Lopez says in the trailer, during rehearsals for her halftime performance. “I want something real.”

Other moments covered in the Amanda Micheli-directed doc will include J.Lo's performance at the inauguration of President Joe Biden and the release of her 2019 film Hustlers, which was snubbed at the Oscars that year.

“I do this, not for an award — I do this to connect with people and make them feel things, because I want to feel something,” Lopez says in the trailer.

In April, Halftime was selected to open the 2022 Tribeca Festival. The film has an upcoming screening on June 8 at the United Palace in Manhattan. Halftime will be released on Netflix on June 14.
