Herb Alpert Documentary to Hit Theaters in May
The Herb Alpert documentary Herb Alpert Is… has been acquired by independent distributor Abramorama and it will hit theaters this spring.
Directed by John Scheinfeld, the film will document the life and career of trumpeter-vocalist and A&M Records co-founder, Herb Alpert. Throughout the past 60 years, Alpert has sold more than 72 million records, scored 14 platinum albums, and has worked with or discovered countless artists such as The Carpenters, The Police, Janet Jackson, and Cat Stevens.
The documentary will also take a look into his philanthropic work to support arts-education programs and his work as an abstract painter and sculptor.
Regarding the film, Scheinfeld said, “Herb is a true artist who did things the right way, achieved success on his own terms, and brought much joy to the world in the process.” “I wanted to make a documentary that would reflect this and, most importantly, to be a feel-good film that will uplift, inspire, and bring audiences together exactly as does Herb’s music.”
Herb Alpert Is… opens in theaters on May 5, and there will be a premiere event at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles.
