Sleater-Kinney’s Carrie Brownstein to Write & Direct Heart Biopic for Amazon

A biopic about Seattle rock band Heart is in the works, with Sleater-Kinney's Carrie Brownstein set to write and direct the film for Amazon.

In an interview with SiriusXM's Lyndsey Parker, Heart frontwoman Ann Wilson revealed that Brownstein is working on the film alongside producer Lynda Obst.

“I can’t tell you all about it, because it’s still being written right now,” Wilson said in the interview. “I saw the first draft of [Brownstein’s] script, and it’s really cool.”

The movie will focus on the Wilson sisters’ life and career up until the early ’90s, including their childhood and Heart’s first two decades as a band.

Production has been slowed down because of COVID-19, but the film is still in development. According to Wilson, a few actresses have been considered to play her and her sister Nancy, but no casting decisions have been announced at the time of writing.
