Usher to Mark 25th Anniversary of 'My Way' with Documentary & Deluxe Edition
The 25th anniversary of Usher's sophomore album My Way is fast approaching. To celebrate, the R&B artist has two gifts for fans: a documentary and a deluxe edition of the album.
Both the Dolapo Sangokoya-directed documentary and My Way (Deluxe Edition) will be released on September 16. 25 Years ‘My Way’ – the mini-doc set for release on YouTube – combines commentary from Usher and producers Jermaine Dupri and Ryan James Carr with archival and new footage of the album's creation.
“It was the first time as an artist that I just felt confident enough to tell anybody: This is what I want to do. This is where I’m at. This is who I am,” the singer explains in the doc trailer.
The deluxe edition of the album will feature instrumental and reimagined recordings of “My Way,” “Nice & Slow,” and “You Make Me Wanna…” Usher's recent work with Carr on the refreshed tracks largely influenced Usher's Tiny Desk Concert debut earlier this summer.
The anniversary release will also be pressed on 2LP 180g Silver Cloudy Vinyl to be released through Vinyl Me Please in early 2023. It will include the same tracklist as the digital release, with the addition of an updated album cover image that pays homage to the classic 1997 artwork. You can find more pre-order information here.
