Abbey Road Studios to Be Subject of Documentary from Mary McCartney
Abbey Road Studios is opening its doors for the first time to a new feature-length documentary entitled If These Walls Could Sing.
Directed by Mary McCartney, the documentary will tell the untold story of the studio using interviews and never-before-seen footage of the premises. The project is produced by Mercury Studios, the music-first content studio from Universal Music Group, and John Battsek's Ventureland.
In a statement, McCartney, who is Paul McCartney’s daughter, said, “Some of my earliest memories as a young child come from time spent at Abbey Road.” She continued, “I’ve long wanted to tell the story of this historic place and I couldn’t be collaborating with a better team than John and Mercury Studios to make this creative ambition a reality.”
Isabel Garvey, managing director of Abbey Road Studios, said, “If these walls could sing. I have lost count how many times I’ve heard that said at Abbey Road Studios over the years. I can’t wait for some of these stories to finally come to life in what will become a timeless documentary.”
This November, the legendary studio will celebrate its 90th anniversary, and If These Walls Could Sing will serve as the centerpiece of the anniversary events.
