Broadway on Demand Streaming Service Set for May Launch

Next month, the Broadway on Demand streaming service is set to launch with live-captured Broadway shows, educational and interactive resources, exclusive performances, and more.

When the service launches, there will be a "30 Days of Opening Nights" series, which will kick off with a livestreamed concert from Hollywood's Bourbon Room. The concert will abide by social distancing guidelines and policies, and will benefit playwrights, musicians, composers, and theater personnel impacted by COVID-19.

"30 Days of Opening Nights" will be available through Broadway on Demand's free membership and the schedule for the event has yet to be announced.

Aside from the free membership, there will be a premium membership that will provide access to additional content. There will also be ticketed pay-per-view events occasionally.

The service's library will contain educational and interactive resources, archived content, Broadway show recordings, exclusive performances, and backstage access to masterclasses.

"Broadway is a giant global brand, and its impact extends far beyond a few blocks in midtown Manhattan," Broadway on Demand's president-CEO Sean Cercone said in a statement. "Even before our current crisis, we’ve long dreamt of building a platform that would truly fulfill Broadway’s long-held promise of being the ‘longest street in the world.’ This platform is our way of breaking down geographical and economic barriers so that the entire world can partake in all the wonders that Broadway has to offer."

The Broadway on Demand streaming service is set to launch in mid-May. Early access sign-up is now open here.
