Dolly Parton's MusiCares Person of the Year Gala to Air on Netflix
In 2019, Dolly Parton was the first country star to be named the MusiCares Person of the Year. While attendees of Parton's tribute event had to pay over $1000 for tickets, people in 2021 will be able to watch the event for free on Netflix.
Dolly Parton: A MusiCares Tribute will be available to stream on April 7. Little Big Town hosted the gala. It featured performances by Chris Stapleton, Leon Bridges, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Shawn Mendes, and Yolanda Adams, who all covered the Queen of Country's iconic songs.
Dolly Parton: A MusiCares Tribute is not the only Dolly Parton-related special Netflix has programmed. Parton starred in the festive Netflix film Dolly Parton’s Christmas On The Square last year alongside Christine Baranski and Treat Williams. In 2019, the streaming platform released Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings, an eight-part anthology series based on the star’s biggest hits.
