Lizzo Shares Video for New Song 'Rumors' with Cardi B
As promised, Lizzo has released her first new single in two years, "Rumors." The raunchy, empowering track is accompanied by a music video that looks like it came straight out of Disney's Hercules, and features a rap solo from Lizzo's Hustlers co-star, Cardi B.
The Ancient Greece-style video was helmed by Ukranian director Tanu Muino, who also directed the video for Cardi B's last collaboration: Normani's "Wild Side." In the video, Lizzo passes through living works of ancient art, then joins a girl group in a Muses-esque dance break. Cardi proudly shows off her baby bump while sitting on a throne.
"Rumors" is expected to be part of a larger project Lizzo has cooking. The last album Lizzo released was 2019's Cuz I Love You, which earned her the most nominations at the 2019 Grammy Awards. She also won three awards: Best Pop Solo Performance, Best Traditional R&B Performance, and Best Urban Contemporary Album.
As for Lizzo elsewhere, the artist has a first-look TV deal with Amazon Studios for an unscripted show she is executive producing. According to the studio's synopsis, it follows Lizzo “as she continues to search for dynamic, full-figured women to join her world and perform with her on stage. Only the most talented dancers and models will have what it takes to twerk it out on tour and stomp it out on the runway.”
Additionally, Lizzo will be making several music festival appearances, including stints at Bonnaroo (she will be the first-ever woman to headline the event), Global Citizen Live, Firefly Music Festival, and more.
