Madonna Announces 'Madame X' Documentary for Paramount+
Madonna has announced a new concert documentary that will chronicle her 2019 Madame X tour. The documentary, which shares the same name as the tour, will be available to stream on October 8 via Paramount+.
“Sharing my vision with global audiences has been profoundly meaningful to me,” Madonna said in a press statement. “The opportunity to bring its message and the incandescent artistry of all involved to an even wider audience comes at a time when music is so deeply needed to remind us of the sacred bond of our shared humanity.”
From MTV Entertainment Studios and directors Ricardo Gomes and SKNX, Madame X captures Madonna’s performance as her Madame X character in Lisbon, Portugal. Madame X is a secret agent traveling around the world who fights for freedom, and the concert will tell her story.
The original tour was created and directed by a team led by Madonna. Jamie King served as creative producer and Megan Lawson as co-director and lead choreographer. Additional creative contribution and choreography was supplied by Damien Jalet, Eyob Yohannes (costume design), Kevin Antunes (musical direction), and Ric Lipson (set design).
Additionally, the concert features 48 on-stage performers. Included among those performers are Madonna's children, singers and dancers from across the globe, and the all-female Orquestra Batukadeiras. Songs will include newer Madonna tracks, as well as classic fan favorites.
"Madonna is undoubtedly the world’s biggest superstar, never ceasing to push boundaries and shape the pop culture landscape," said ViacomCBS producer Bruce Gillmer. "She and MTV together have an incredibly storied history and we are thrilled to continue to amplify our partnership globally with the exclusive world premiere."
