After the success of Laurel Hell, Mitski is right back into the music-making game with an announcement that her next studio album, The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We, is on the horizon.
The new LP will be her seventh effort to date. The "Nobody" singer revealed the title in a voice memo that was included in her official newsletter. Mitski also said the album’s lead single will arrive this Wednesday (July 26).

“Hi, this is Mitski, and I’m at Bomb Shelter Studios in Nashville, where we recorded my new album that’s coming out,” Mitski said in the voice memo. “It’s called The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We, and its first single is coming out on Wednesday.” A release date has not been set for The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We.
Laurel Hell was released in early 2022. After becoming the top-selling album in the United States that same year, Mitski achieved another milestone with Laurel Hell: her single “The Only Heartbreaker” climbed to #1 on the Billboard Adult Alternative Airplay chart. It was the first time one of Mitski’s songs had topped a Billboard chart. Additionally, the up-and-coming singer got to tour with Harry Styles and opened for some summer shows in the U.K. last year.
