Queen & YouTube Collaborate on Three Fan Videos
Queen and YouTube have unveiled three new music videos, “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “A Kind of Magic,” and “Don’t Stop Me Now,” made entirely from fan submissions on Queen’s official YouTube channel.
In order to compile fan submissions, YouTube and Queen created a site where fans could find instructions as well as submit their videos. “Don’t Stop Me Now” was created from submissions of a dance originally choreographed by Polly Bennett. For “Bohemian Rhapsody,” fans were encouraged to submit a video of them performing the song at home, and “A Kind of Magic” is based on visual art submitted by fans from around the world. Over 10,000 fans from over 120 countries participated in the production of the 3 videos.
“It’s one of the most rewarding things that can happen to an artist of any kind: to see that our work has inspired folk all around the world to create their own performances and visual art is a thrill,” said Queen’s lead guitarist Brian May. “And the diversity of their vision is astonishing. Big thanks to everyone who participated.”
The new videos were created in celebration of “Bohemian Rhapsody” becoming the first pre-1990s video to reach one billion YouTube views.
