The 1975 Put Up Posters to Tease New Music This Summer

The 1975 will be releasing new music next month, according to some posters spotted by fans in London’s Shoreditch area and a follow-up post from the band.

Today (June 1) is a notable day for the band, as they chose their name based on a poem including the date, and often release new music or share news with fans on this particular day. This year, they have put up posters featuring a black-and-white photo. It appears to be frontman Matty Healy, with the date July 7.

The posters come after the band hinted at new activity by wiping their social media accounts back in February and sharing footage which appeared to show the band back at work in the studio. Fan accounts have been sharing shots of the spotted posters.

Following the news of the posters, the band posted to social media to confirm a new album is on the way. "Your new album. Your new era. Your old friends. The 1975," the caption reads. The band's pictures across social media and other platforms have also changed. Fans can sign up to receive news of the new album first via the band’s official website.

In related news, Healy's been working on a side project under the moniker Drive Like I Do. Healy has been telling fans that his upcoming project will include “a little bit of new music,” separate from The 1975.
