Thundercat Announces Fall 2021 Tour Dates
Grammy-winning bassist Thundercat has announced a fall North American tour to support his 2020 album It Is What It Is. The tour will include some of his largest headlining shows to date and will take him through over 20 cities.
Thundercat will embark on the tour after playing at a series of summer music festivals - including the 2021 Pitchfork Music Festival and the Hollywood Bowl on June 12. Channel Tres will accompany Thundercat as the tour's opening act. Special guests are set to appear at certain shows.
Tickets will go on sale this Friday, June 11 at 10am local time. They will be listed on Thundercat's website, as well as on other ticket purchasing sites.
Though original touring was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic, It Is What It Is garnered praise from several critics, and won the 2020 Grammy for Best Progressive R&B Album. It was Thundercat's second Grammy win; he won a golden gramaphone back in 2016 for his vocals on Kendrick Lamar's "These Walls."
Thundercat (aka Stephen Bruner) is considered one of the most in-demand contemporary funk musicians working today. He often collaborates with his longtime writing partner Flying Lotus, and has worked with a throng of respected musicians, including Kendrick Lamar, Pharrell, NERD, Erykah Badu, Herbie Hancock, Childish Gambino, Janelle Monáe, Moses Sumney, Michael McDonald, Kenny Loggins, Kamasi Washington, and Travis Scott.
