Willie Nelson Will Receive Special Grammy Honor in 2019

Willie Nelson is set to be honored during Grammy Week 2019, which is a celebration of music leading up to the 61st Annual Grammy Awards. The Recording Academy Producers & Engineers Wing will be paying tribute to Nelson.

On Wednesday, Feb. 6, at the Village Studios in West Los Angeles, there will be a celebration of the artistic achievements and creative genius of the iconic entertainer and songwriter. In the past, the Producers & Engineers Wing has honored artists such as Jack White, Neil Young, Alicia Keys, and Swizz Beatz.

Regarding the honor, the President/CEO of the Recording Academy, Neil Portnow, said, “Willie Nelson has inspired generations of musicians and fans, and continues to set precedents of excellence within the music community.” “We are privileged to pay tribute this year to an industry pioneer who perfectly embodies the tireless efforts of the Producers & Engineers Wing as we continue to raise awareness of the ever-evolving climate of sound quality and the increasing interest in the preservation and integrity of recorded music.”

The Texas-born musician has received 8 Grammys throughout his career.

The 61st Annual Grammy Awards will air live Sunday, Feb. 10, at 7:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
