Dave Grohl Performs Nirvana's "In Bloom" with Trombone Shorty
On Saturday, Sept. 15, Dave Grohl joined New Orleans jazz collective, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, to play Nirvana's "In Bloom" during the Los Angeles' Threauxdown Festival. Grohl, the former Nirvana drummer, jumped behind the drum kit to play the Nevermind classic for the second time since the band's end.
While Grohl played, the band jazzed up the instrumental version with the saxophone and trombone to give the original grunge hit a jazz twist for the festival.
Grohl noted his connection to Nirvana and Kurt Cobain in a GQ interview earlier this year. The Foo Fighters frontman said, “For years I couldn’t even listen to any music, let alone a Nirvana song.” “When Kurt died, every time the radio came on, it broke my heart. I don’t put Nirvana records on, no. Although they are always on somewhere. I get in the car, they’re on. I go into a shop, they’re on. For me, it’s so personal."
