Drake & Nelly Furtado Perform 'Promiscuous' & 'I’m Like a Bird' at October World Weekend
On Thursday (July 28), Drake kicked off his new Toronto-based concert series October World Weekend at his own Toronto nightclub, HISTORY. During his set, the rapper brought out fellow Canadian Nelly Furtado for live renditions of “Promiscuous” and “I’m Like a Bird.”
TMZ reports that before Drake brought out the fairly reclusive Furtado, he told the crowd, “I like to deal with people the right way. Because that’s the only way that you can get this next person out of the house to come do what they’re going to do right now.”
Drake continued: "I don’t care how loud you sang tonight…right now I need you to sing as loud as you possibly can because this right here took a lot… This next person’s music changed my life so much. I love her with all my heart, so when she comes out here you better show her some f---ing love, too."
The opening beat of "Promiscuous" then blasted overhead and Nelly Furtado immediately jumped in spitting bars. "Hey Toronto! What's up!" she said to the excited crowd.
Drake announced October World Weekend in early July. The three-day event continues today (Monday, August 1). In June, Drake released Honestly, Nevermind. It quickly become his 11th album to reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, making him only the fifth artist in history to release more than 10 No. 1 LPs. Also in July, Drake joined the Backstreet Boys onstage in Toronto, assisting them with “I Want It That Way.”
